Cyrano de Bergerac
YEAR
2008
PERFORMED
NW England, N Wales & Ireland
DESCRIPTION
Le True Histoire de Cyrano de Bergerac is the story of two men and their love for the beautiful Roxane.
Cyrano de Bergerac is a musketeer with the soul of a poet, the mind of a philosopher and a nose like a giant turnip! His embarrassment at his unseemly features and the fear that Roxane will reject him sends him on a valiant quest to woo Roxane on behalf of another, the dashing young swordsman, Christian.
But there’s more to this story. The tale takes an extra twist when the real Cyrano de Bergerac, a genuine poet and duelist from the 17th century, turns up in the performance to hide from the Inquisition who are trying to suppress his identity. The story of the real and the fictional Cyrano become intertwined as the characters fight together against “the tyrannies of falsehood, compromise, prejudice and cowardice.”
“A very impressive company.”

What to wear to open air theatre?
The best way to know what to wear to an open air theatre performance is to check on what the weather is doing, but always play it safe. If you can carry a coat in case things turn sour, then we’d always recommend doing so. Beyond that, wear anything you like to an open air theatre performance, though please ensure you wear something!
