SHOW TITLE
A Legend of King Arthur
YEAR
2000
PERFORMED
NW England, N Wales & Ireland
DESCRIPTION
Magicians and murderers, gallant knights and brave maidens, giants, traitors, a sword in a stone, the search for the grail and the mysterious Lady of the Lake. Off the Ground Touring Theatre Company’s 2000 summer production was an epic retelling of Britain’s greatest legend.
Arthur, with a little help from this island’s most powerful magician, Merlin, is trying to unite the Britons against foreign invaders. But there are conspiracies at court, and deciding who the enemy is proves to be no simple task.
A Legend of King Arthur was written for OTG by Jim Foggin after two years’ intensive research, with original music composed and performed by Colm McElwee.
“OTG (have) done it again…simply sensational…A cracking, boisterous tale with some fine comic moments expertly slotted in among the blood-curdling sword-fights and rousing scenes of damsel rescuing…spine-tingling music and a 16-strong cast radiating illegal amounts of talent made for an overwhelmingly entertaining evening. See it.”

What to wear to open air theatre?
The best way to know what to wear to an open air theatre performance is to check on what the weather is doing, but always play it safe. If you can carry a coat in case things turn sour, then we’d always recommend doing so. Beyond that, wear anything you like to an open air theatre performance, though please ensure you wear something!
